"Where the Wild Things Are" by Maurice Sendak is an imaginative classic children's book with great illustrations. The picture book has won many awards, including Caldecott Medal, Boston Globe-Horn Book Award for Illustration and ALA Notable Children's Books award. After being put to bed without supper by his mother, Max imagines sailing off to where the wild things are, becoming the king of all wild things and eventually returning to his own room where hot supper is waiting for him. "Where the Wild Things Are" is a good book for preschoolers, kindergarteners and beginning readers.
One of my favorite quotes about children actually comes out of the bible Proverbs 22:6 (NKJV) states, "Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it."
I like your proverb quote being taught this scripture from childhood. I believe that children should be taught young and prayerfully they will not depart from their training. Just as you compound your learning, children are learners young. You first learn to scoot, then crawl, then toddle, and then walk, finally run, and so on.
ReplyDeleteHello Deon,
ReplyDelete"Where the wild things are seems to be a very interesting book. Max seems to have had a vivid imagination. I believe that if we as educators can nurture the imagination of our students we are well on our way to develop individuals who will be able to be creative and imaginative in transforming society in a positive way.
